Ultrasound Usage in Fracture Diagnosis

Ultrasound is being used more frequently by emergency physicians to both diagnose bony fractures and also to confirm an adequate fracture reduction before splint placement. This study from Italy confirms that ultrasound has a very high sensitivity and specificity if used by experienced emergency physicians to diagnose hand fractures in children.
